Noah Baumbach’s White Noise has been met with a polarizing reception and, I think, unfair critique. This is due, in part, to viewers’ misunderstanding of the film as both a parody and an embodiment of postmodern art.

First Reformed is a film that deals masterfully with the themes of guilt, despair, and hope, especially within a faith context. It portrays how we can internalize guilt—for our own action, inaction, or even for the actions of those around us—and how this can exacerbate powerlessness and hopelessness.
